Synopsis
A 1916 advertisement for a Wyoming woman librarian says, "Must be able to get along with Western people, ride and drive, as well as pack a horse, follow a trail, shoot straight, run an automobile, and be able to rough it whenever necessary!" That spirit is still out there. Meet 13 Wyoming women and girls, as diverse as they are distinct, who share their vibrant stories from the heart of Wyoming.
Background
In January 2007, the Equipoise Fund invited people across Wyoming to nominate the women and girls whose stories they found inspiring for our film project. More than 150 nominations came in, nominations of neighbors, students, grandmothers, even those they did not know personally. They nominated those whose stories had impressed them.
Our hope is that these stories help make Wyoming women and girls visible—so that others will be inspired and so that women's and girls' important roles in the life of our state will be as valued as they deserve. The film premiered in April 2008 to a full house at the Rialto Theater in Casper, Wyoming, and it continues to inspire at screenings all across the country.
