the equipoise fund initiatives
The Equipoise Fund creates and supports processes and initiatives based on systemic change. We seek out creative answers and develop innovative programs that result in social equity and social justice. Our current initiatives include:
Documentary Film Project
Filmmakers Bonnie Kreps and Charlie Craighead have begun work on a film project chronicling the lives of women across Wyoming and their stories of sustaining families, ranches, industries and communities, and of living in the broad Wyoming landscape.
Equality Initiatives
Established in 2006, Equality Initiatives is a statewide awareness campaign designed to highlight not only the successes of women in Wyoming, but also the many difficult challenges facing the state’s women and girls.
Womentum
Comprised of inspired women in Jackson, Wyoming, who believe in “action philanthropy,” this enthusiastic and talented group works through a mentoring program designed to broaden the impact that women have on other women’s lives.
Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus
In the 2006 elections, Wyoming saw the largest increase in the percentage of women in its state legislature. The Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus is hoping to capitalize on that energy by working together to encourage more Wyoming women to run for office, through candidate development and speaking engagements to share their own experiences. Rosie Berger, State Representative from Bighorn, said of the group’s first gathering in March 2006, “Our recent gathering as a group of women legislators was refreshing. I realized we had chosen the legislative role not for personal gain, but to enrich the lives of Wyoming citizens. I believe we recognize how important it is for us as leaders to encourage other women in our communities to learn how to get involved in the legislative process.”
